Will washing my area rug in a washing machine kill the fleas in it
l am going to spray my apartment with flea killer (good legit flea killer),
and my cat frequents the bathroom floor rug. Can l just wash that or do l
need to spray that too?
If you spray be sure it contains an igr (insect growth
regulator). An thing else is a waste of money.

Washing is better. Using hot water & plenty of bleach if you
can is the best way. Sprinkling salt on the carpeting & leaving for a day
or two helps kill fleas also by drying them out.
all these are good, but another thing you can do is take the
rug and put it in a garbage bag and seal it very tightly and put it out in
the sun for a couple of days. This will suffocate the fleas.I have done this
myself and it works. It also works for head lice as well, because i
unfortunately had to do this with my daughter. You can also put a little
fresh garlic in her food, this will keep fleas off of her.hope this helps!
i don't know about that but to kill fleas you need to start at
the source. the cat! get some ''Revolution'' from the vet. nothing over
the counter. be mindful of the cats age and weight. that stuff is great
and lasts for several month with 1 application. the flees that are in your
house will eventually get back on the cat and they will die too. the eggs
are also killed.
First vacuum your rugs real good to get as many of the eggs
out. Then machine wash your rugs in hot, soapy water to remove fleas. Pet
bedding also needs to be washed or replaced with new ones.
Check out the link below for more information about fleas. I have had
good luck using diatomaceous earth to kill the fleas that are in carpet or
bedding that can not be washed.
Fleas will die in water, and if you use detergent, they will
die even faster plus there is less of a chance their eggs will survive.
Try to use the hottest water you can too.
yes but if you want to save money on water just put it in the
dryer. it burns the fleas.
